Nb. INSTALL file in glibc 2.5 says:
`--enable-omitfp'
Use maximum optimization for the normal (static and shared)
libraries, and compile separate static libraries with debugging
information and no optimization. We recommend not doing this.
The extra optimization doesn't gain you much, it may provoke
compiler bugs, and you won't be able to trace bugs through the C
library.
Is --enable-omitfp really wanted?

Current location of dietlibc files doesn't allow multilib installs with
single "diet" wrapper.
When both dietlibc* suites are installed:
both
$ diet sparc64-pld-linux-gcc -o c c.c
$ diet sparc-pld-linux-gcc -m64 -o c c.c
pass, but:
$ diet sparc-pld-linux-gcc -m32 -o c c.c
sparc-pld-linux-gcc: /usr/sparc64-linux-dietlibc/lib-sparc/start.o: No such
file or directory
sparc-pld-linux-gcc: /usr/sparc64-linux-dietlibc/lib-sparc/libc.a: No such file
or directory
sparc-pld-linux-gcc: /usr/sparc64-linux-dietlibc/lib-sparc/libc.a: No such file
or directory
Of course after reinstalling dietlibc-devel.sparc sparc builds will
work and sparc64 won't.
So my proposal is to use %{_prefix}/lib/dietlibc as %dietprefix.
dietlibc keeps arch-dependent files in per-arch subdirectory.

OK, It's working now, nearly working... Progress is broken, /etc/init.d/functions lack support for it, I'll try to fix it today. initrd with udev doesn't seem to work, it complains that his filesystem is mounted read only so it cannot create devices. Current mono in Ac has some vulnerabilities, see CVE-2006-6104 and CVE-2006-5072. I would opt for 1.2.2.1, of course we could use the maintenace release but it would mean we are one year behind. AFAIK there aren't many packages in AC which depend on it (hmm, BTW how can I check it) and most of them are antiquated... -- Łukasz [DeeJay1] Jernaś

And it wasn't built because libsmbclient check in configure fails due to unresolved `nscd_flush_cache' symbol that comes from libnscd. I thought rebuiding samba would fix the issue. And it did, but only when samba was built locally. When I sent samba to ac builders (test build on ac-i686 and ac-amd64) it turned out that unresolved nscd_flush_cache symbol issue remains. We already suffer from this problem, kdebase which is in main tree has smb kio slave broken (smb:// links do not work). What is the solution? Rebuild libnscd, then rebuild samba, then rebuild the rest? -- http://www.mysza.eu.org/ | Everybody needs someone sure, someone true, PLD Linux developer | Everybody needs some solid rock, I know I do.

This build is undeterministic. One every four builds it fails, because in %install section, for some strange reaons make decides that src/Login.c needs to be rebuild (altough it was compiled in %build). Hi,
Today I tried to upgrade ruby-FXRuby (I haven't touched ruby for quite a long
time) and notice that ruby-FXRuby examples aren't working at all - both Ac
and Th are affected [1]:
[inter@asus /usr/src/examples/ruby-FXRuby-1.6.3]$ ruby hello.rb
hello.rb:3:in `require': no such file to load -- fox16 (LoadError)
from hello.rb:3
I've checked load paths - they seem completely broken:
[inter@asus /usr/src/examples/ruby-FXRuby-1.6.3]$ irb
irb(main):001:0> $:
=>
["/1.8", "/1.8/i686-linux", "", "/usr/lib/ruby/1.8",
"/usr/lib/ruby/1.8/i686-linux", "."]
irb(main):002:0>
AFAIK they should look like (ok - it's Debian with its idiosyncrasies):
# irb1.8
irb(main):001:0> $:
=> ["/usr/local/lib/site_ruby/1.8",
"/usr/local/lib/site_ruby/1.8/i486-linux",
"/usr/local/lib/site_ruby/1.8/i386-linux",
"/usr/local/lib/site_ruby",
"/usr/lib/ruby/1.8",
"/usr/lib/ruby/1.8/i486-linux",
"/usr/lib/ruby/1.8/i386-linux", "."]

How should we handle such situation? There was a package called slim (Shared Library Interface Macros from cairographics) and it was even sent to Ac once (somewhere in 2004 probably). On 20041031 it was obsoleted by libpixman.spec (qboosh's commit). Should we change specname (SLiM is used sometimes, or slim-dm?), or maybe we can accept it's current name? -- http://www.mysza.eu.org/ | Everybody needs someone sure, someone true, PLD Linux developer | Everybody needs some solid rock, I know I do.

[pld-devel-pl] Included for reference. Hello, Starting from today I'm the new Th release manager (mmazur, pluto, thanks for work as Th RM). The goal is to stabilize Th as fast as it's possible. We already know that this is hard thing to do but we need (at least I do) something that will replace AC in incoming months. New rules for Th are: 1) upgrades to new *stable* releases of software are allowed, no rcX, no alpha, no beta 2) each non-test builder request needs to have integer release 3) test builder request have no rules, output rpms can be found at ftp://ftp.pld-linux.org:/dists/th/.test-builds/ 4) snapshots/alpha/beta/rc that already are in main stay there until final releases are available; after that see 1) 5) if you have sent some request you need to ensure that it was built correctly for all Th architectures, use: http://ep09.pld-linux.org/~builderth/queue.html for that We go for gcc 4.2, xorg 7.2, glibc 2.5, kernel (hard thing) but >= 2.6.20, so there is no point in playing with 2.6.19 for Th. I'll be sending i686 consistency raport (for those people who want to help) which summarises what needs to be done first (i686 was choosen as reference arch). If someone fixes one of issues below - please mail me / IM me.
